Background and Analysis:

Each week in May, the City of Olympia joins the American Public Works Association (APWA) in celebrating National Public Works Week, honoring the impact and role that Public Works professionals make on our vibrant community.

This year’s celebration theme is "The Rhythm of Public Works," recognizing each community as a symphony of essential services, working in concert to create a great place to live. Every community has a rhythm, a heartbeat that reflects its essence and tempo of life.  Public Works keeps our community’s rhythm moving by providing infrastructure services in transportation, water resources, solid waste, public buildings and facilities, fleet and emergency management.

Even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Olympia’s Public Works employees continue to provide these critical services for the community.
