Background and Analysis:

This year, combined funding for WSDOT’s Safe Routes to School and Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety programs is $8 million statewide. The City leverages existing funding as matches for grants, in order to be more competitive.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

Several projects recommended by staff for grant funding have been requested by the public.

Options:

1. The committee may accept staff’s recommendations.

2. The committee may suggest alternative projects.

Financial Impact:

Match levels depend on projects selected. Matching funds will come from Capital Facilities Plan programs.
