Background and Analysis:
The Parking & Business Improvement Area (PBIA) is a business improvement district in downtown Olympia. Over 400 downtown businesses are assessed on an annual basis based on their location, type of business, and number of fulltime employee equivalents. These factors dictate how much each business contributes toward the PBIA annual fund. The PBIA annual budget is $110,000. The board consists of 15 ratepayers who make recommendations to City Council on how to allocate PBIA funds. See attachment 1 for the 2015 PBIA budget.

Over 50% of PBIA funds are allocated toward a variety of Clean & Safe related projects including, but not limited to, the Downtown Ambassador Program and Clean Team, cigarette butt bins, and murals.

At their February, 2015 retreat, the PBIA board requested an opportunity to update the General Government Committee on their annual work plan and discuss opportunities for future partnerships.

PBIA board members will present their progress and discuss their ideas for how to make downtown Olympia a clean, safe and welcoming environment for all to enjoy.
