Whether to approve payment in the amount of $4,000.02 for hearing aids.

Background:

Retired LEOFF 1 member is requesting approval by the board to purchase hearing aids from Robertson Hearing Clinic.  In April 2024, this member purchased hearing aids at Costco per board policy.  The member worked with Costco for 5 months for adjustment for the static noise the member was getting with the hearing aids purchased at Costco.  The city reimbursed the member $1,999.98.  On September 19, 2024, the member returned the hearing aids to Costco and received a refund of $1,999.98.  The member is requesting approval by the board to purchase hearing aids from Robertson Hearing Clinic in the amount of $6,000.00 less the $1,999.88 refund from Costco.  This request is for $4,000.02 for a total cost to the city of $6,000.00.  Board policy requires the member submit two quotes if not purchasing from Costco with one of the quotes from Costco, however I did not require the member to get a new quote from Costco because of the purchase and return with Costco.
