Background and Analysis:
The Olympia Heritage Commission is tasked with updating and maintaining a database of important historic properties, known as the Inventory of Historic Properties. A thorough expansion of the database is a technical and lengthy process and while the Commission has done some of this work, it recommends that the City apply for a grant to hire a preservation consultant to conduct a survey of historic properties.

If awarded, the $6,000 grant will have a $4,000 match requirement.  The match will come 1/2 from in-kind staff time for project coordination and 1/2 from existing historic preservation budget.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
Historic neighborhoods and properties are assets of the whole community.

Options:
      1. Approve applying for an historic preservation grant
      2. Do not approve applying for a grant.
