Background and Analysis:
The City of Olympia Mark Noble Regional Training Center was built using City of Olympia, voter approved, tax funds. This facility has the capability and capacity to train more than just the Olympia Fire Department members. There is already in existence, an agreement with Lacey Fire District 3, for joint training and use of the facility. In that agreement, Lacey Fire District 3 pays the City for expendables, a use fee and provides training staff for joint instruction.

This agreement with the City of Tumwater provides training, managed by the City of Olympia, at the training center for Tumwater firefighters, and access to the facility. City of Tumwater pays a fee for this training and access along with reimbursing the City of Olympia for expendable supplies as detailed in the contract.

With this agreement in place the relationship between the Cities is defined, liability issues are addressed and financial details are recorded. For the Tumwater firefighters, a leval of training and preparedness, not previously available, will be delivered. For the citizens of Olympia and the Olympia firefighters, better trained Tumwater firefighters means an increased level of safety in Olympia as Tumwater is one of Olympia's frequent mutual aid partners.
