Report

Staff Contact:

Mark Schreck, Deputy Fire Chief, Olympia Fire Department, 360.753.8460

Nicole Camus, Secretary/Chief Examiner, Human Resources, 360.753.8213

Background

The fire department established the assistant fire chief position in 1993. Updates to the classification were last made in 2015. The department currently has two deputy chiefs and has reclassed a Battalion Chief position to create an Assistant Fire Chief assigned to training. The department is requesting an update to include new duties and a change to the experience/education requirements.

Findings:

The proposed classification specification changes reflect the department’s operational needs to better accomplish the department’s mission.
