Background:
Based on Civil Service Rule IV: Examinations ,initial eligibility lists were established with candidates who submitted a letter of interest to Fire Chief Matt Morris and/or Deputy Fire Chief Mark Schreck. Seven (7) candidates sent letters of interest into DC Schreck, and seven (7) candidates were invited to an assessment center. The assessment center consisted of four (4) assessment areas. These areas were a formal interview, a written/inbox assignment, a coaching/mentoring/discipline scenario interview, and a tactical scenario exercise. Seven (7) candidates participated in the assessment center and five (5) candidates passed.
Five (5) candidates were Male. Five (5) candidates were White/Caucasian. The assessment center panels were assessed by the following personnel:
Formal Interview: Tumwater Fire DC Shawn Crimmins, South Bay BC Derek Hall, OFD AC Randy Haines
Coaching/Mentoring/Discipline Scenario: South Thurston Fire Chief Andrew Schaffran, South Bay AC Brandon Lemay
Written/Inbox Assignment: OFD AC Chad Boulay, OFD BC Matt Gantenbein, OFD BC Russell Hermann
Tactical Scenario: Tumwater Fire BC Brad Ridgeway, OFD BC Jason Waters
Findings:
Five (5) candidates successfully passed the assessment center and have been placed on the register in accordance with scores of 76.44 - 88.31.
