Issue:

Discussion on the process to develop the 2026-2027 work plan.

Staff Contact:

Max DeJarnatt, Associate Planner, Public Works | Transportation, 360.570.3723

Presenter(s):

Tom Dillon, BPAC Chair

Background and Analysis:

Each year, Olympia advisory committees submit draft work plans to the City Council’s Community Livability and Public Safety Committee. After reviewing the work plans, CLPS makes a recommendation to the City Council on whether to accept them. Advisory committee work plans run from April to March of the following year.

Last January, BPAC recommended its draft 2025-2026 work plan to CLPS, which was ultimately approved by Council in April.

Chair Dillon will lead a discussion about how best to approach the development of next year’s work plan.

As a reminder, the BPAC’s work plan and City Transportation staff’s interface closely. Staff can support six BPAC meetings per calendar year, and the items we brief the BPAC on should be related to our work plan, which is set by the City Council when it passes the budget. The City Council may also refer items to the BPAC or other Council committees that staff will support. At this time, the City Council has not made any referrals to the BPAC for 2026.
