Whether to payment in the amount of $9,800.00 for 1 month fee for basic services and administrative move in fee for member in a memory care facility

Background:
Retired LEOFF 1 member, at the advice and request of their health care provider is moving to a memory care facility. This member has advanced Alzheimer’s and Dementia and is no longer able to be cared for at home. The POA submitted the required documentation; Application for Payment of Services, documentation from Eldercare and the agreement with the facility. The current request will be ongoing in the monthly amount of $7,800.00 broken down by fee for basic services of $7,600.00 and $200.00 for incontinence fee. The additional $2,000.00 for the first month is for the administrative move in fee. The spouse of this member has been the sole caregiver of this member for the last 5 years and is no longer able to care for him at home with his need of constant 24 hour care. This request is in accordance with the LEOFF Policy.
