Background and Analysis:
The Olympia Police Department has experienced significant growth in staffing. The passage of the public safety levy, the development and expansion of the Crisis Response Unit (CRU), implementation of the Familiar Faces program, introduction of body-worn cameras, and the addition of a police lieutenant have collectively added 27 full-time employees to the department, each requiring dedicated workspace.

Currently, the Department's Outreach Services Division consists of 16 full-time staff members, including 12 CRU staff, 2 Familiar Faces Outreach Specialists, 1 Contracted Designated Crisis Responder, and the Outreach Services Manager. This team plays a vital role in coordinating responses to community members experiencing crisis.
The Outreach Services Division is currently housed in Suite 101, a space that lacks sufficient room to accommodate both current operations and projected growth. The need for a secure, private, and appropriately equipped workspace is becoming increasingly urgent.
