Background and Analysis:
Planning Commission retreats vary from year to year. The subject and structure are determined by the Commission, and staff provides logistical assistance.

The OPC Leadership Team discussed some ideas at their meeting on April 25. This included: 1) A 1-1 1/2 hour group discussion about public outreach and expectations, and 2) A 1-1 1/2 hour discussion about the state of development in the city or region to create a context for future work on the downtown. The Leadership Team members can describe these ideas further at the meeting, and also invite other members to share their interests and ideas.

Retreats are typically held on weekends, last about half a day and lunch is served. The Commission may also opt to hold the retreat on a weeknight. Retreats are held within the local community to ensure public access.

The Leadership Team would like the Commission to consider holding the retreat in June or early July - before vacation season. Potential dates include:

* Saturday, June 21
* Saturday, June 28 (Roger Horn out of town)
* Monday, June 23 (evening)
* Monday, June 30 (evening)
* Saturday, July 12 (Council's public hearings on the Comp Plan are currently scheduled for the following Tuesday, July 15)
* Saturday, July 26

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
The public is welcome to attend OPC retreats and observe. The retreat date and location will be noticed to the public.
