Background and Analysis:
The Parking and Business Improvement Area (PBIA) Advisory Board currently has ten of its eleven member board positions filled. One member recently resigned after selling his downtown business, leaving one vacancy on the Board. The PBIA members have nominated downtown business owner Elise Landry to fill the vacant position. The PBIA Advisory Board must take formal action to confirm the appointment.
Climate Analysis:
Selecting new PBIA Board members does not directly impact climate goals but could influence future decisions affecting sustainability downtown.
Equity Analysis:
Selecting a new additional PBIA Board member is an opportunity to ensure broader and more equitable representation of downtown stakeholders. Choosing not to select new board members could reinforce existing disparities by limiting leadership opportunities to a small or less diverse group.
