Background and Analysis:
Each year, Community Planning and Economic Development leads the City-wide process of developing a six-year CFP. The Plan is considered Volume 2 of Olympia’s Comprehensive Plan, which is a 20-year plan that is updated every ten years.
A preliminary draft of this plan is presented to the Finance Committee in the summer. In coordination with the Finance Department and City staff, the plan is reviewed and adjusted before it is adopted in December. Year one of the plan becomes the Capital Budget for the upcoming year.
Climate Analysis:
The Climate Analysis framework will be completed for the individual projects included in the CFP.
Equity Analysis:
The Equity Analysis framework will be completed for the individual projects included in the CFP.
Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
Items on the 2026-2031 Preliminary CFP will be of interest to the community, Council-appointed advisory committees, commissions, boards, and departments.
Financial Impact:
The proposed projects in this plan represent significant capital investments for the City of Olympia. Departments intend to utilize existing fund balances, various on-going revenues sources, grants, and debt issuances to fund these projects.
