Issue:
Receive update on Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation's 2024 Performance Metrics.

Staff Contact:
Laura Keehan, Parks Planning & Design Manager, Parks, Arts and Recreation Department, 360.570.5855

Presenter(s):
Scott River, Director of Recreation and Facilities
Laura Keehan, Parks Planning & Design Manager

Background and Analysis:
The Department uses performance measures to determine and communicate levels of success in delivering services to the community. This data-based approach measures whether the Department is meeting expectations in many different areas such as park acres, park condition, recreation activities, and access to art. The Department uses the performance metrics to help inform data-centered decisions, improve ability to tell data stories, improve performance, and demonstrate progress towards achieving the community's vision.

An effort is underway to upload the City's performance measures to an online data dashboard that allows for easy access by the public. The Clearpoint software is being configured to showcase some city-wide metrics, as well as pilot a dashboard of OPARD's metrics. It's anticipated that other city departments will soon follow suit. Staff will present the metrics at the meeting.

Climate Analysis:
Performance metrics related to both parks and art pieces being located within a 1/2 mile of residents encourages fewer vehicle miles for people to access recreation and art amenities in Olympia.

Equity Analysis:
Performance measures related to equity, inclusion and belonging for OPARD are currently under development.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
Community members in general are interested in Olympia's parks, arts and recreation services. The ability to showcase OPARD's performance metrics on an interactive, virtual platform is conducive to easier access for community members.
