Background and Analysis:
The City of Olympia is negotiating a Real Estate Purchase and Sale Agreement to acquire the Kaiser Heights property from Wonderland Holdings, LLC for public open space. The Comprehensive Plan identifies a network of future streets needed in the next 20 years as our community grows. One of those street connections in west Olympia is along the boundary of this property, extending Kaiser Road to Black Lake Boulevard. It is prudent to establish the right-of-way for this future street with the purchase of the property.

The right-of-way needed for the future Kaiser Road Extension is 6.47 acres, more or less, through the property being acquired by the City from Wonderland Holdings. Public Works staff recommends using Transportation Capital Improvement Program funding in the amount of $94,895 towards the City's purchase of the Kaiser Heights property for purchase of the portion of property needed for future public right-of-way.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
There is community interest in preserving and acquiring the area commonly referred to as Kaiser Heights as open space and for parks use. The future Kaiser Road Extension project would build a road along the boundary of this property.
