Background and Analysis:
The labor agreement with the Olympia Police Guild expired on December 31, 2021. The contract covers approximately sixty (60) Police Officers in the City's Police Department. The new agreement has been ratified by the Union and City staff is now bringing it forward for approval.
The contract has a two-year term that will expire on December 31, 2023. Significant changes to the contracts are in the areas of wages.
Wages
Wage increases are 6% for 2022 and 5% for 2023.
Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits
All medical/dental/vision benefits remain the same as administered through Association of Washington Cities.
The remainder of the contract changes is general and/or matching language clean-up items to include gender neutral language or added language based on operational or management needs.
Climate Analysis:
The proposed action is not expected to have an impact to greenhouse gas emissions.
Equity Analysis:
The proposed action is expected to help sustain a fully staffed Police Department to better serve the community.

There are no known community interests.
Financial Impact:
The cost to the City for implementing this contract in 2022/2023 is $1,017,926 which is equal to what was included in the Operating Budget. A summary of the economic agreement is attached.
