Background and Analysis:

This is an opportunity for Commissioners to review, edit and weight in on two art opportunities offered this year:

The Poet Laureate position is a two-year appointment that concludes this June, with a new Poet Laureate to begin in July.

The Traffic Box Wrap program was last offered in 2023, and is an opportunity for a range of artists, from emerging to professional, to participate in bringing art into the urban landscape.

Climate Analysis:

Public art projects in the urban landscape can encourage a more walkable community. In the past, the Poet Laureate has been asked to contribute to thoughtful response and centering around our environment and climate change.

Equity Analysis:

The Traffic Box Wrap is open to anyone who has a design they want to have considered. This year, extra support is being set in place to help artists be successful with the image requirements for their applications. The Traffic Box Wrap vote is also open to all to participate.
