Issue:

Background:
The board must decide whether or not to approve the request for dental work in the amount of $4,532. The member had an abscessed tooth. A portion of the recommended dental treatment has already been completed. Pre-approval from the board was not sought, because the failure to treat the dental condition quickly would have led to further infection and illness. The cost of the dental procedure exceeds the allowable amount of $600/year for regular dental care.
