Report
Issue:
The homeowner proposes replacement of original window sash in four second-story locations including the façade of the home. Sash replacement will restore full function of the sashes and add double-paned glass without disturbing original interior mahogany window frames and allow for removal of non-historic aluminum storm windows on the exterior.

Background and Analysis:
This home received Special Valuation in 2003, which expired in 2013. Windows on two sides of the home were altered sometime after that to replace original double-hung sash with new sash that is wood inside, metal outside. There is no record of permit for that work. Homeowners are seeking to continue the window sash replacement on four additional windows, all on the second floor. Significant character-defining windows on the front of the home and remaining historic windows on the first floor will be fully preserved. Proposed replacement window product is metal on the exterior, wood on the interior, and will match other windows on the home that previously received similar treatment.
