Background and Analysis:
The West Bay Environmental Restoration Assessment is a detailed scientific evaluation of current and potential future shoreline conditions. The scope of the study covers Budd Inlet's West Bay from 5th Avenue north to the City limits. The assessment looks at ways to improve the environmental conditions of the shoreline.

The assessment is focused on publicly-owned properties along the shoreline. However, it will also provide general recommendations on how to improve the shoreline on the privately-owned properties. The assessment will evaluate potential public access and trail options for the shoreline.

The study was initiated in May 2015 after a scope of work was collaboratively developed by City Public Works and Parks, Arts and Recreation Departments; the Port of Olympia; and the Squaxin Island Tribe. Final reports will be available in early January 2016. The results will be shared with stakeholders and the public in late January and February.
