Background and Analysis:
Article III, Section 3.3 (Board Officers) of the OMPD Charter states that the OMPD Board shall have three officers: the President, the Vice-President (also the Clerk) and the Treasurer.
Article II, Section 2.2 (Officers and Committees) of the OMPD Charter states: “The President and Vice-President shall be elected by the Board from among its members.”
Section 2.2 further states: “The first officers of the Board shall be elected by the Board at its first meeting.”
Section 2.3(a) (President) further states: “The President shall not be the same person as the Mayor of the Olympia City Council.”
