Background and Analysis:
In 2015 a broad coalition of park activists including Friends of the Waterfront, the LBA Woods Park Coalition, the Olympia Capitol Park Foundation, and the Olympia Coalition for Ecosystems Preservation worked with Olympia City Council to formulate a ballot measure to create an Olympia Metropolitan Park District. Part of this effort included the formation of an Interlocal Agreement between Olympia City Council and the future Olympia Metropolitan Park District. The Agreement included the formation of a Citizens Advisory Committee to provide oversight of the expenditure of OMPD funds.
