Background and Analysis:
The Independent Salary Commission met on August 24, 2017 to review and discuss the research conducted by City staff regarding Olympia City Council salaries. At that meeting the Commission requested the following additional information:

* City job classifications including salary
* City budget
* Historical cost of living adjustments (COLA) provided to independent City employees from 2008 through 2017
* Cash value of medical benefits offered to independent City employees including "opt-out" incentives.
* Cost of comparable medical plans to plans offered to City employees
* Salary compensation for Not-for-Profit organizations
* Salary compensation for Board Members of private corporations
* Department of Retirement Services (DRS) information for Elected officials
* Full-time Equivalent (FTE) calculation for current City Council

Options:
1. Accept the information and do not request additional research. The Salary Commission will use this information to establish the compensation for the Olympia City Council.
2. Identify additional information, ask staff to update the findings and present to the Salary Commission at their next scheduled meeting.
