Background and Analysis:

At its February 5, 2018 meeting the Heritage Review Committee chose to begin moving forward on developing guidelines for technical preservation.  The Committee reviewed some examples from other jurisdictions and opted to take a focused approach (topic by topic) rather than a single document which addresses multiple issues.  The Committee opted to start with windows and doors.

The full example from Fort Lauderdale (Attachment 1), which was considered at the February 5th meeting, can be found by visiting:

As discussed at the meeting, the Committee’s preference is for a one-sheet handout that includes recommended approaches and a decision matrix.

Individual Committee members offered to begin developing guidance and bring their first drafts to this meeting.  Members are also encouraged to bring any examples from other jurisdictions they’d like the full Committee to consider.  The U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards are provided in Attachment 2 for reference during the meeting.

This will be an ongoing discussion.  No formal decisions will be made at this meeting.
