Staff Contact:

Jay Burney, Assistant City Manager, Executive Services, 360.753.8740

Presenter(s):

Jay Burney, Assistant City Manager

Background and Analysis:

On January 24, 2018 Mr. Burney provided the Arts Commission with progress to date on the ArCH study. He noted he would return in April with a draft report for Arts Commission feedback.

Work to Date:

The consultant team and City staff (Jay Burney, Assistant City Manager; Stephanie Johnson, Arts Program Manager; and Michelle Sadlier, Historic Preservation Officer) have worked to gain understanding of current ArCH efforts in the community, and plan for the report by

                     Interviewing three groups of key stakeholders and participants in the Olympia community’s current ArCH efforts.

                     Reviewing and analyzing relevant policies and plans, including but not limited to the City Comprehensive, Arts Parks and Recreation Plan, and Downtown Strategy.

                     Closely coordinating with a City appointed Resource Committee (including Arts Commissioner Marygrace Goddu and Heritage Commissioner Ben Helle) to thoroughly learn and understand the Community’s ArCH status.

This draft report will be reviewed by the Arts Commission, Heritage Commission, and the Resource Committee (noted above) before being submitted to the Olympia City Council for consideration.
