Background and Analysis:

In 2018, OPARD is applying for the following grants:

Lions Park Sprayground (development) - Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program (WWRP) Local Parks Category, $500,000

Grass Lake Nature Park Trail (development) - RCO WWRP Trails Category, $900,000

LBA Woods Boulevard Road Parcel (acquisition) - RCO WWRP Local Parks Category, $1,000,000

Stevens Field #2 Synthetic Turf & Lights (development) - RCO Youth Athletic Fields, $350,000

The department anticipates applying for an additional acquisition grant, however because the acquisition is not yet complete the details are not public. Staff will request a letter of support from PRAC at a future meeting when the details are available.

Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):

These projects are in the 2016 Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan, which had substantial public input.

Financial Impact:

Voted Utility Tax, Impact Fees and SEPA Mitigation Fees are available as match for all of the proposed grant applications. Should these applications be funded, OPARD will be able to leverage existing funds to implement more acquisition and development projects.
