Background and Analysis:
Under the initiative of the City of Olympia’s Heritage Commission and Historic Preservation Officer, the City was awarded a $20,000.00 grant from the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) to conduct a cultural resource survey of Priest Point Park. To hire a qualified consultant team to conduct the survey, Ms. Sadlier issued a targeted release of a Request for Proposals to firms with experience working in the South Puget Sound (Attachment 1). Four consultants submitted proposals.
Ms. Sadlier convened a selection committee to review the proposals and conduct interviews with the submitting teams. The selection committee was composed of:

2. Gretchen Kaehler, DAHP Local Government Archaeologist
3. Sylvana Niehuser, Parks Stewardship Supervisor
4. Laura Keehan, Parks Planning & Design Manager
5. Michelle Sadlier, Historic Preservation Officer
Following interviews, the committee unanimously selected Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI) (Attachment 2).
Tonight, SRI team leaders will introduce themselves, present an introduction to their approach to the project, and information or recommendations that Heritage Commissioners have on Priest Point Park and the project.
