Background and Analysis:
The City of Olympia has a long history of on the issue of nuclear disarmament. The City Council has passed several Resolution regarding this issue:
• April 14, 2009 - Declaring that the City of Olympia Supports the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons and Believes that Appropriate Government Purchasing Practices can Further the Cause of Eliminating Nuclear Weapons
• February 1, 2005 - In Support of the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons by the Year 2020
Recently citizens requested an updated resolution regarding the issue of nuclear weapons to reflect current world conditions.
