Issue:

The Evergreen State College has submitted a building permit application to conduct significant improvements to the building’s front portico. Improvements include repairs to the plasterboard framing, the wood frame roof and roof structure, repair and replace damaged stucco molding, repair cracked and missing stucco, clean, seal and remove staining of the stone frieze architrave, medallions, and cornice, and repair the copper roof drains and overflow drains.

 

The mansion was designed and constructed in the Spanish Mission style of architecture by Joseph Wohleb, in 1923. The house has a rich and significant history in Olympia, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the State Register, and the Local Register as a contributing property in the South Capitol Historic District.
