Background and Analysis:
Thurston County (Medic One) and the City of Olympia (Fire Department) have had a contractual agreement for over 40 years describing the County’s reimbursement to the City for paramedic services. Earlier this year, during negotiations between Medic One and another Fire District regarding rental space, the rate for such property was increased. To assure that all jurisdictions providing rental space to Medic One were being treated equally, Medic One initiated an amendment (Amendment No. 2) to the existing Intergovernmental EMS Contract signed January 1, 2017. The new rental rate will be retroactive to January 1, 2019. The net change to the City is small, approximately $2,700.
