Background and Analysis:
The City uses pervious concrete to decrease the need for stormwater ponds and increase stormwater infiltration. The City of Olympia began experimenting with pervious concrete in 1999. Pervious concrete mixtures were in early development and not perfected at that time. The City recognized that we were taking some level of risk and failures were a potential.

Water Resources and Transportation Lines of Business identified pervious concrete sidewalks that need replacement. This project will replace sidewalks where the pervious concrete has prematurely deteriorated due to the material mix design and vehicles driving/parking on the sidewalk. The City is now using Evolution pervious concrete. The Evolution product has a better texture, wear characteristics, and strength. The streets where sidewalks will be replaced are:

* Bush Avenue, Birch Street to Division Street. Includes Birch Street from Bush Avenue to Sunrise Park.
* Brawne Avenue, Rogers Street to Foote Street.
* Miller Avenue/Friendly Grove Road, curve section of the intersection of these two streets.
* R.W. Johnson Boulevard/21st Avenue, Tumwater City Limits to Black Lake Boulevard.
* North Street, Henderson Boulevard to Cain Road.
