Background

The fire department has requested a fire medical services officer promotional register. The department anticipates filling one vacancy in 2020.

The proposed testing process includes a supervisory skills and abilities exam using the services of Public Safety Testing. This is an abbreviated format designed for smaller candidate pools. It will use three evaluations to assess 6-8 behavioral dimensions based on the results of the job task analysis performed by Public Safety Testing. The minimum passing score for the dimensions evaluated is 70%, and the register rank will be the assessment center percentage.

The timeline for this process will begin in April for candidate identification and preparation.  The goal is to have a register to approve at the May meeting for an appointment date of June 1.

Findings:

A Fire Medical Services Officer Promotional Register is needed to fill a vacancy in the fire department.  The proposed testing plan will evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of candidates to perform the classification.
