Background and Analysis:
The Familiar Faces Program coordinates and provides resources for some of Olympia's most vulnerable community members in an effort to address obstacles to stable living like housing, securing identification, medical appointments, and other barriers. Funding for the program is through grants and Olympia's public safety levy.

The Arrest and Jail Alternatives Grant through WASPC, accepted by Council earlier this year, will fund peer navigators, certified mental health services, and a program manager to continue the work of the Familiar Faces Program. The Arrest and Jail Alternatives Grant is intended to serve clients based on arrest, court, and community referral criteria.

This proposed resolution authorizes renewal of the Mental Health Field Response Grant through WASPC in the amount of $100,000. This funding is specifically intended to assist those community members whose link to criminal behavior is identified as substance abuse, mental health, or poverty. The Mental Health Field Response Grant will fund a portion of the contracted mental health services, peer navigators, and administrative services to support the work of the Familiar Faces Program.
