Background and Analysis:

For several years, the General Government Committee agenda has contained a quarterly public safety update.  Those updates have focused almost exclusively on the Olympia Police Department.  The Committee has expressed an interest in making changes to the standing public safety item and in broadening the perspective on the work the City does to keep the public safe beyond just the Police Department.

Staff will present potential subject to consider and schedule under a monthly Public Safety Spotlight, including items around the work of the Fire Department (for example, fire prevention, emergency management), and Community Planning and Development (for example: code enforcement, inspections).
