Committee Recommendation:
At their first meeting on October 27, 2020 the Ad Hoc Public Safety Committee unanimously agreed to recommend Councilmember Gilman as Chair and forward to the full Council for their approval.
City Manager Recommendation:
Move to approve the Ad Hoc Public Safety Committee recommendation to appoint Councilmember Gilman as Chair of the Committee.

Background and Analysis:
At their September 29, 2020 work session on Public Safety, the City Council established an Ad Hoc Public Safety Committee. Council appointed Mayor Selby, Councilmember Gilman, and Councilmember Cooper to serve on the Committee and asked them to develop a Charter and 2021 work plan.
The Committee met on October 27. The Committee discussed the position of Chair. The Committee unanimously agreed to recommend Councilmember Gilman as Chair and forward to the full Council for their approval.
The Committee is also developing a charter and 2021 work plan which will be forwarded to Council for approval.

Options:
1. Approve the Ad Hoc Committee’s recommendation to appoint Councilmember Gilman as Chair.
2. Do not approve the Ad Hoc Committee’s recommendation to appoint Councilmember Gilman as Chair and appoint Mayor Selby or Councilmember Cooper.
