Background and Analysis:
The cities of Olympia, Yelm, Tumwater, and Lacey, along with the Port of Olympia and Thurston County and Intercity Transit have historically contributed to the costs for Intercity Transit to maintain basic passenger services and amenities at the Centennial Station/Amtrak Depot located at 6600 Yelm Highway. The Centennial Station/Amtrak Depot is of mutual benefit to our respective jurisdictions as it provides necessary passenger rail transportation services.
Funds pay for Intercity Transit to maintain and operate the facilities. Operations and maintenance funding includes janitorial and landscaping services, major maintenance, utility fees, a right-of-way lease, and insurance.
