Background and Analysis:
The Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan is updated every six years. While the Plan is a Legislative requirement to be able to apply to State grants for acquisition and development of land for parks, Olympia uses the opportunity to determine community vision and direction for the entire department. Staff’s presentation will include a review of the random sample survey used to assess Parks, Arts & Recreation needs as well as the timeline for review and adoption of the 2022 Plan.
The full survey report, as well as previous public input and recorded public meetings are available for viewing at the Plan’s Engage Olympia webpage.
Neighborhood/Community Interests (if known):
The random sample survey of 515 residents (or approximately 1% of Olympia’s population) is statistically appropriate for such a survey. The overall results for a
sample of 515 surveys have a precision of at least +/- 4.7% at the 95% level of confidence.
