Background and Analysis:

This briefing is to keep the Committee informed about the aquatics project in preparation for the Committee’s recommendation to Council following the completion of the study.  The study is anticipated to be complete at the end of November 2021.

In January 2020, the City hired Barker Rinker Seacat (BRS) from Denver, Colorado to conduct the feasibility study. Their team includes Ballard*King for recreation operations and program planning, Robert W. Droll for landscape architecture, and Water Technology Inc. for aquatic programming and engineering.

Staff has met with stakeholders, local jurisdictions and interested citizens several times over the last two years to gather feedback.  The first community survey was conducted in November 2020 and had over 1,200+ participants.

On June 7, the City released Survey #2 to gather feedback on two floorplan concept designs.  Staff will present the modified concept design based on the feedback received, as well as present some preliminary numbers on operational costs.
