Background and Analysis:

The City of Olympia has a long history of responding to emergencies and disasters and over the years interdepartmental efforts have produced processes and procedures to better meet the needs of Olympia’s residents.

Although earthquakes are our greatest hazard in the Pacific Northwest, our most persistent threat to life and property is severe weather. Whether it is 18 inches of snow or a thunderstorm with damaging winds, staff are trained and prepared to respond in a coordinated and efficient manner.
