Background

In September 2019, the Civil Service Commission agreed to remove the “Academy Graduate” as a designation of the Lateral Police Officer Class Specification. The Police Department wishes to restore the “Academy Graduate” designation. A detailed memo is attached.

 

Findings:

The proposed change to the minimum qualifications of the Lateral Police Officer job posting will expand the applicant pool for the department and provide greater flexibility and speed to the hiring process during a significant staffing shortage.
