Background and Analysis:

The Squaxin Island Tribe and the City of Olympia have worked collaboratively for years to create a strong and enduring government-to-government relationship. This relationship is fundamental to our ability to work collaboratively on items of mutual interest. For example, the City and the Tribe have conferred and cooperated on a number of critical issues such as the development of water rights, conservation stewardship agreements, shoreline and habitat restoration projects, and more.

Annually the Olympia City Council and the Squaxin Island Tribal Council meet to discuss issues of mutual interest.
