Whether to approve payment for hearing aids in the amount of $5,700.00

Background:

Retired LEOFF 1 member is requesting approval to purchase hearing aids in the amount of $5,700.00.  As required by LEOFF policies, the member submitted two quotes for hearing aids.  The quote for $5,700.00 clearly identifies a 3 year warranty as required by policy.  The second quote for $5,990.00 does not identify a warranty period.  The member did not submit a quote from Costco, as required by policy, because the nearest Costo to the members residence is 45 miles away.  This request is in accordance with the LEOFF policy.
