Background and Analysis:
The LOTT Clean Water Alliance has partnered with the City in our work in homeless response and encampment management for several years. LOTT donated three hygiene units now located at New Hope and Quince Street tiny home villages. This partnership has been a great asset to the community and the effectiveness of Catholic Community Services and Olympia Mutal Aid Partners at these tiny home villages.
This agreement continues the support from LOTT and covers the expenses for porta potties at several of the City's continued managed encampments and homeless response target areas including, the jungle, Caton Way (near Percival Canyon), and the Union Gospel Mission, a location that also supports community residents accessing the Thurston County Foodbank. This service is essential to best supporting the unhoused community and their access to safe and clean hygiene facilities. This partnership also helps encourage people to use the facilities as opposed to the water ways located next to the encampments, keeping the community's environment healthy and clean.
