Approval of 2014 Advisory Committee and Commission Work Plans

Recommended Action
Committee Recommendations:
General Government Committee unanimously recommends approval of the attached work plans, with referral of the Planning Commission to Land Use & Environment Committee to discuss workload and timeline particularly as it relates to land use issues.

City Manager Recommendation:
Move to approve 2014 committee and commission work plans as recommended by General Government Committee, with referral of the Planning Commission work plan to Land Use & Environment Committee to discuss workload and timeline.

Committee/commission work plans begin April 1 annually, and Council approved is neded.

Background and Analysis:
Annually, Council-appointed advisory committees and commissions submit draft work plans for approval. Committee and commission members are appointed as policy advisers to the City Council which is why the Council - through the General Government Committee - reviews the plans for consistency Council priorities, roles, and available resources.

General Government Committee and staff review the plans, and General Government Committee forwards recommended plans to the full Council for approval after meeting with committee chairs. That meeting was held on March 18.

Traditionally, the Design Review Board and Lodging Tax Advisory Committee do not submit plans since the nature of their work is well defined and remains basically the same from year-to-year.

Staff recommended and General Government Committee concurred with some changes to the Arts and Heritage Commission plans originally presented to General Government Committee.
